Letter

Chairman, President and CEO

The Boeing Company

Dear Mr. Muilenburg:

We write today to urge you to drop your appeal of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) certified bargaining unit and election victory of the flight technicians at your facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. The IAMAW has been a critical part of Boeing's long, successful history, and we urge you to recognize the union in South Carolina, just as you do in Washington State.

The IAMAW has represented Boeing workers for more than 80 years, and, in that time, the company has grown to be the world's largest aerospace company. Boeing's partnership with the Machinists union has produced the most cutting-edge airplanes from the 727 to the 787 in the last six decades. More than 10,000 Boeing-built airplanes are in service globally, which is almost half of all airplanes in service in the world. Boeing's accomplishments would not have been possible without the skills, dedication, and ingenuity of the IAMAW members that build your planes.

Despite opposition, the flight technicians at the South Carolina facility voted to join the IAMAW earlier this year. Instead of respecting its workers' choice, Boeing has appealed the election and challenged the legitimacy of the bargaining unit. We oppose these efforts to deny these workers their right to union representation, and we urge Boeing to drop its appeal and immediately begin collective bargaining with its workers through their selected union representative.

Sincerely,
